Postpartum recovery
In the aftermath of the pandemic, the postpartum support, advice and follow up has been dramatically reduced.
This could leave lots of women experiencing all sorts of difficulties that they are too anxious to discuss for fear that it’s not normal, or that they may have to go to the GP or to outpatients and increase their risk of contracting covid.
Firstly please don’t let this be you. If there is something you aren’t sure about such as leaking, or incontinence (and that can be urinary or faecal), pain, abnormal bleeding or discharge, pain or redness around wounds, difficultly feeding, difficulties with the baby, feeling low or anxious, feeling lonely, feeling sad…. please please talk to your GP, midwife, health visitor or a trusted friend or family member.
Programs like MUTU are fantastic, especially right now where we can’t rehabilitate in groups. But it does mean things can get missed.
Everyone’s life experience has changed during covid. Having a baby myself during this time was not easy. You matter, your body matters and it has done an incredible job – now it’s time to look forward and make sure there’s a positive future for your women’s health and well-being.
